Whether you are threading your needle for embroidery, cross stitch or tapestry, struggling to thread it can be a frustrating experience. But there’s no need to struggle, here are three easy ways to thread your needle.

Use a DMC Needle Threader

The easiest way to thread your needle is to use the DMC Needle Threader.

Step 1

Slide the hook through the eye of the needle.

Step 2

Loop the thread on the hook.

Step 3

Pull the hook and thread through the eye of the needle.

Loop, Pinch and Press

Step 1

Loop the end of thread over the eye of the needle and pinch the loop tightly between your thumb and forefinger.

Step 2

Remove the needle from the loop.

Step 3

With the tips of your thumb and forefinger facing you, press the eye of the needle between them over the loop of thread.

Pinch and Poke

Step 1

Cut the thread cleanly with sharp scissors and pinch the end between your thumb and forefinger, leaving only a little of the end exposed.

Step 2

With the tips of your thumb and forefinger facing you, “poke” the eye of the needle over the tip and the thread into the eye, then pull the thread through.

Step 3

Pinching the thread gives you more control to guide the thread into the eye. You may have to “saw” the eye of the needle back and forth slightly to get the thread to enter the eye.
