STEP 1 Cast on 24 stitches. STEP 2 Row 1: K1, P22, K1. Row 2: P1, K22, P1 Repeat Rows 1-2 until you’re knit half the length of your headband. End by working a Row 1 so you’re ready to cable in STEP 3.   When should I stop? How long should my headband be? Our headband is 18 inches long, so we stopped at 9 inches. Here’s how to calculate yours.
    1. Measure your head where you’ll place your headband.
    2. A headband needs to stretch to stays in place. Subtract 2 to 3 inches depending on how snug you’d like it to be. That’s the total length of your headband.
    3. Divide the number by two - the halfway point.
My head circumference ____” minus 2 to 3” = ____” divided by 2 = ____”. STEP 3 Cable Row: P1, CF22 (slip 11 stitches onto your cable needle and hold them to the front of the work, K11 stitches from the left needle, then the K11 from your cable needle), P1. STEP 4 Continue working headband by repeating Row 1 and 2 from STEP 2 until the headband is fits comfortably and snug around your head. STEP 5 Bind off. STEP 6 Using a yarn needle, seam the cast on and bind off edges together. Weave in the ends. Main 1 Pick your color and get stitching! Love and Threads, The Commonthread Team
