    Get To Know Michelle Staub

"Every stitch is stitched with love, and I think that translates throughout my work. I aim not to just stitch ‘a dog’ or ‘a cat’, but YOUR specific pet. I want their personalities to shine through each piece!"

We had the chance to get to know Michelle a little more. Below are questions that she so kindly answered for DMC. For more on Michelle follow @stitchingsabbatical on Instagram

    1. How would you describe your style in three words?
      Lifelike, earthy, and personal.

    2. How long have you been stitching?
I’ve been learning embroidery since 2014!

    3. What are your embroidery essentials?
My favorite pair of embroidery scissors, needles, my hoop stand, cotton twill fabric, and DMC thread, of course! I’ve recently been wearing a glove with thumb support, too.

    4. What inspires you?
What inspires me the most is the relationship people have with their pets.

    5. What’s your favorite stitch?
I love french knots, I find them so fun!

    6. What’s your favorite piece of work?
Currently my favorite piece of work is the brown poodle portrait I made earlier this year with the plants. It’s too adorable!

    7. How did you learn how to stitch?
I am self taught! I love pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying new techniques to improve my embroidery.
