    Happy Turkey Day! Enjoy this fun free pattern using DMC Ottawa yarn.

    Materials:

    • DMC Nordic Spirit Ottawa Shade 082 (Col A) 1 x 1.75oz/50 g ball
    • Shade 09 (Col B) 1 x 1.75oz/50 g ball
    • Shade 06 (Col C) 1 x 1.75oz/50 g ball
    • A pair of US 11/ UK 0 (8 mm) knitting needles
    • Pom pom maker or cardboard

    Instructions: 

    Level: Beginner

    To fit an average 4-6 cup teapot

    Measuring 16. -17 in (42-43 cm) around under handle (approximately)

    Measuring 7. -8. in (20-21 cm) high (approximately)

    GAUGE

    10 stitches and 21 rows to 4x4 in (10x10 cm) measured over garter st (knit every row) using US 11/ UK 0 (8mm) knitting needles.

    Check your gauge - if fewer sts or rows, use smaller needles; if more, use larger needles.

    IT IS ESSENTIAL TO WORK TO THE STATED GAUGE TO ENSURE SUCCESS.

    BACK & FRONT (Both alike):

    Using US 11/ UK 0 (8mm) knitting needles and Col A, cast on 22 sts.

    Knit 6 rows.

    Change to Col B and knit 8 rows.

    Change to Col C and knit 8 rows.

    Change to Col A and knit 8 rows.

    Shape Top

    Change to Col B and cont as follows:

    Dec Row 1: K4, (k2tog, k4) 3 times. 19 sts

    Knit 1 row.

    Dec Row 2: (K3, k2tog) 3 times, k4. 16 sts

    Knit 1 row.

    Dec Row 3: K3, (k2tog, k2) twice, k2tog, k3. 13 sts

    Knit 1 row.

    Dec Row 4: K2, (k2tog, k1) twice, k2tog, k3. 10 sts

    Knit 1 row.

    Change to Col C and cont as follows:

    Dec Row 5: K2, (k2tog) 3 times, k2. 7 sts

    Knit 1 row.

    Dec Row 6: K1, (k2tog) 3 times. 4 sts

    Knit 1 row.

    Bind off

    FINISHING

    Weave in all ends.

    Sew side seams of cozy as follows:

    Right hand side - from bottom edge up for approximately 2. in (6 cm), leave approximately 4 in (10 cm) unsewn for the teapot handle, then sew above opening and across the top.

    Left hand side: - sew up from the bottom edge for approximately 6 cm (2. in). Leave approximately 2. in (6 cm) unsewn for the teapot spout, then sew above the opening to the top.

    Please note: these measurements may vary for your own teapot and can be adjusted to suit.

    Using all 3 yarn colors together, make a pom-pom measuring approximately 2. in (5.5 cm) in diameter. Sew pom-pom to top of cozy as shown.
