Our stitcher spotlight's continue for National Craft month. We selected one of our customers and die hard stitcher to spotlight for our Cross Stitcher spotlight, Mrs. Susan Pelletier. We had an absolute blast with her during our interview.
Susan is all smiles during her DMC interview.
How did you learn how to stitch?
One day my girlfriend and I saw a finished cross stitch project in a magazine. We fell in love with it so much and said “we’ve got to make this”. We taught ourselves and have been doing it for 29 years. I love to craft overall; cross stitch, embroidery, crochet and quilting. The occasion or the season determines the craft category I focus on.
Who do you stitch for & what was the last project you worked on?
I have 5 children and I always wanted to do something special for their teachers. I’m constantly crafting pieces for them. I also make pieces for my children, their friends & spouses as well as my friends. I just finished a project for my grand daughter. It’s an ornament with an angel her name stitched on it.
How do you know about DMC?
Personally I think DMC has the most vibrant colors of all the other off brand DMC floss brands. I’ve always used DMC floss because of it. I’ve purchased other brands but they’re just not the same.
Why I stitch
I stitch to put a smile on someone’s face. Creating and giving something handmade makes them feel special. I believe “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Many of the projects I create become heirlooms.

How we can pass the art of needle crafting down?
One way is by looking at finished projects, and demonstrating how easy it is. This would motivate a person to do their own. It is very inexpensive to start. In addition, if more up to date cross stitch patterns were available, it would entice our youth to maybe start stitching. Things like comic book characters would be quick and easy to finish for framing, sewing on t-shirts, or used for a quilt.
We love Susan and her enthusiasm and passion she has for stitching. We can't wait to see more of her future projects.
