There is nothing like the sheen and sparkle of real gold. This skein is just gorgeous! I would never use this unless it was for a very special occasion. The whole presentation impressed me and I will keep this with my jewelry!

I am super new to the world of embroidery and cross stitch (I've only been doing it about a year and a half now) but when I saw this, I knew I had to have it. I'm currently finishing up my art history masters thesis about embroidery in the eighteenth century, which includes a lot of information on stitches and materials--the most expensive being gold thread. While this isn't the same sort of gold thread, it gives an idea as to what gold thread would have been like and how much it would have weighed (this little skein is surprisingly super heavy!) This gold thread is absolutely beautiful, costly yes, but I think it is 100% worth it for fiber artists or crafters who are interested in the history of embroidery and want to give their work a little extra flair.

If you’re sitting on the fence like I was, DO IT. It’s prettier in person. Not a video or even photos can pick up the beauty of the skein. It’s an expensive purchase, but if you’re going to do an heirloom piece, it’s worth the money.

I received this as a present. It is so beautiful and totally as described. I advise everyone to get it while it is still available or give it to the person who does the needle arts---they will just love it! :-)
