DMC Soft Cotton is a matte tapestry thread, also known as Retors Mat. The 5 non-divisible strands, made of 100% long fibre cotton, have been combed and singed by flame to remove fluff. This single ply thread is ideal for tapestry, crewel, hardanger, weaving and more. It's also also great for braiding and weaving.

Retors Mat is a beautiful soft and matt colour alternative to the 'gloss' of floss thread. Although you say otherwise - that threads are undividable - I have created work in the past dividing the five-thread into two-thread for an 18-count mono canvas. This takes patience and the thread will shred on many trips through the fabric, so use in small lengths is advisable.
